Nurturing Faith & Community in Northwest Indiana
Northwest Indiana Islamic Center is a non-profit, non-political organization that attends to the Islamic religious standards of excellence in character-based education and facilitating the well-being of Muslims in the region.
NWIIC works to foster strong relations with the community of Northwest Indiana in promoting the noble principles of Quran and Sunnah through worship.
We are dedicated to empowering families through spiritual growth, quality education at Indiana Horizon Academy, youth development through “The Calling” program, and meaningful community engagement — building bridges within Northwest Indiana and beyond.

OUR STORY
Much like its surroundings, the space that houses Northwest Indiana Islamic Center was once a vast expanse of corn fields. In 1991, some 10 Muslim families decided to buy the property for $36,000 for the 10 acres to build a place of worship and religious education. Construction started in October 1992 and the first Friday prayer, attended by 9 individuals, occurred some 6 months later.
WHAT WE OFFER
Services & Programs
Religious Services
Daily and Friday prayers, Ramadan special prayer (Tarawih), Eid prayers, and ceremonial services including Aqiqah, marriage, and burial services.
Imam Consultation
Full-time Imam consultation services on marriage and family issues, general Islamic guidance, and personal counseling.
Youth Programs
“The Calling” youth programs with a dedicated youth coordinator engaging youth in productive activities, sports, entertainment, and excursions.
Education
Full-time Indiana Horizon Academy, Carriers of Quran Institute for Quran reading and memorization, and weekend Islamic schools.
Community Service
Humanitarian relief services in partnership with Children of Abraham, food and clothing drives for refugees, and interfaith dialogues.
Community Nights
Guest lecturers from around the US, women/sister group activities, and community events to widen knowledge and perspectives.
